How far is Golubac Fortress from Belgrade?

Golubac Fortress is approximately 130 km from central Belgrade. By private vehicle, the drive takes 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The route follows the E75 motorway toward Požarevac, then continues along the Danube road through Rama and Golubac town to the fortress.

Is this a guided tour or just a driver?

This is a private driver service — not a licensed guided tour. Your driver is English-speaking, knows the Golubac and Djerdap area well, and can share context about the region during the drive. You explore the fortress independently and at your own pace. Licensed guides are available inside the fortress for a separate fee if you want a formal walkthrough of the history.

Can I add Lepenski Vir or Silver Lake to the same trip?

Yes. The vehicle is yours for the full day, so the itinerary is flexible. Lepenski Vir is about 1 hour further along the Djerdap road from Golubac. Silver Lake is on the return route, approximately 40 km before Belgrade. Adding both stops extends the trip to 10–12 hours. Mention what you'd like to include when requesting a quote.

Is the Danube boat ride included in the price?

No — the boat ride through Iron Gate Gorge is paid separately, directly at the dock. Prices typically range from €15 to €25 per person for a 1–1.5 hour cruise. Boat rides operate from approximately April through October. In winter, the fortress and Lepenski Vir remain open, but the boat is not available.

What time should we leave Belgrade?

We recommend departing between 8:00 and 9:30 AM. This gets you to the fortress before the majority of group tour buses, which typically arrive around 10:30–11:00 AM. If you plan to include Lepenski Vir and a boat ride, an 8:00 AM start gives you enough time for a relaxed return before dark.

Can pickup be arranged from Belgrade Airport?
